Grandma Twit Twoo's Carrot and Swede Mash


350 g
swede (peeled and cut into small cubes)
200 g
carrots (peeled and thickly sliced)
tric) butter (!Tablespoon ( )
allspice / nutmeg


1. Peel and roughly chop up all the veg into equal sized pieces. Place in a large pan of boiling water and cook until soft.
2. Drain and add butter. Mash vegetables together and mix in a liberal sprinkling of allspice or nutmeg if you prefer. It's as simple as that!


NOTES : I have to credit this very simple recipe to my mother-in-law, Grandma Twit Twoo. This always appears alongside her Sunday roast. Really, you don't need a recipe just use whatever swede and carrots you have and add butter and allspice to your own taste. Any leftovers can be fried up as fritters and served with a bit of bacon the next day.
