It's time to start New Year resolutions and to kickstart many of those things on your to-do list which seemed to slip to the bottom through 2016. If you've been thinking of getting a veg bag, buying fresh, local food and still need some convincing on why getting a veg bag is a great idea and the best way to start 2016, have a read below......
- It makes you more inventive in the kitchen. Never cooked with a Red Kuri squash, Jerusalem artichoke, or eaten mizuna salad? Or do you want to become a connoisseur of some of the finest potatoes? We carefully plan our bags each week so you get a continual mix of interesting, delicious and delightful veg. You’ll be surprised by what our farmers can offer and each week it will inspire you to plan and cook fresh tasty veg-filled dishes.
- We celebrate 100% UK only grown veg. We never source from abroad and choose to supply from 6 farms directly, meaning better prices for you and for our farmers.
- Price. Our price comparison for our small bag (£7.50) was from 7.49 at Sainsbury’s to 8.60 at Tesco’s on like for like or similar (i.e. no endives). We consistently remain highly competitive and provide a better deal when adding in the confidence you gain on where and who your veg comes from. Plus we take out the need to plan and search for the best quality and seasonal veg, we do the thinking for you!
- Sustainability. Our farmers use sustainable practices, we are an eco-conscious driven business and a London living wage employer. Working to provide the best services for our planet, people and business success.
- Making a positive difference. We are a thriving, local, not for profit, bringing 6 jobs to the community and supporting a network of volunteers. We have also donated over 2 tonnes of veg to Brixton and Norwood foodbank over the years. With your purchase of a veg bag, we can further build our network and positive impact on the local area.
- Taste. Potatoes as you’ve never had them, rainbow carrots deliciously sweet, organic cherry tomatoes you can eat like sweets, the crispest curly kale. Our veg really does taste better and has been grown with care, always organic or unsprayed (no chemicals or pesticides) and are ready to collect within 24 hours of picking!
- Building community. We support and are supported by 19 South London venues from pubs, music venues and delicatessens to bakeries, Brixton's first pay-as-you-feel café and bike shops! Getting a veg bag brings new customers to our partner shops and builds community.
