Make your pledge to The Big Park Sleepover
We had a great time at the Lambeth Country Show and it was fantastic meeting so many of you! We also met many people from the local community doing great things. Paula Webb from Father Nature is organising The Big Park Sleepover 2016 with the Myatt's Field Park Project. Read below to find out more and make a pledge!
"We have been holding the ‘The Big Park Sleepover’ at Myatt’s Fields Park, Lambeth since 2011. For some, this is their only holiday of the year, for others, it is their first night in the great outdoors ever. Everyone LOVES it! This year we'll be offering 100 low income/local families a night to remember and the chance to experience nature on their own doorstep in the park for one night in summer 2016. With overnight security (thanks to the local Army Reserves & Cadets) we provide everything else - tents, sleeping bags, toilet facilities & lighting, games, hay bales, workshops on gardening, cooking and fire-lighting, professional storytellers and drummers, with dinner and a cooked breakfast thrown in."
Due to local government cuts the event has lost its Lambeth funding but Father Nature are determined to keep the event alive by crowdfunding the project. Both the Mayor of London and Brixton’s Dogstar have given the project the thumbs-up and pledged their support, but Father Nature still need to raise the final £4889 to get the Sleepover to the finishing line. They have until just August 1st to reach their target or the event will have to be cancelled!
"With crowdfunding, it’s all or nothing’ say Father Nature. ‘If you don’t reach your target you get none of the money pledged. It’s a nail-biting experience. We’re really hoping people can get behind it. It’s such a great event."
If you would like to support the Sleepover, you can pledge anything from £2 to £4889! Pledge at: www.spacehive.com/big-park-sleepover-2016.
